A School Held Together by Community

Rebuilding Hope in Madeh

In the village of Madeh, nestled deep in Mal Conteh Chiefdom, the local school was all but forgotten. No government funding, no proper teachers, no support—just a building and the determination of a village that refused to give up.

Two farmers stepped in to teach. Parents sent their children barefoot, without books or bags, hoping education would one day change their lives. Children walk miles each morning, some without breakfast, just to sit in classrooms with no chalk or pens.

We were told by the city council that this region had been overlooked for years. That’s when we knew we had to act.

Where We Are Now

Today, that same school serves 480 students from 8 neighbouring villages. We’ve stepped in to help provide structure, learning materials and hope.
With very limited funds, we’ve already awarded 100 scholarships through a raffle system—to give every child a fair chance.

But the need is overwhelming. The school has no trained teachers. No running water. No library. Not enough chairs. Most children speak only their native language, with no knowledge of English or Krio, Sierra Leone’s main creole.

Our Goals for Madeh

Cover school fees for every child

  • Prioritise scholarships for girls, who are most at risk of early marriage or dropping out

  • Hire and train full-time teachers

  • Provide uniforms, books, bags, and basic school supplies

  • Introduce English and Krio language lessons

  • Offer weekend classes and girl-friendly study groups

  • Eventually expand to build schools in nearby villages

We’re not just keeping a school alive—we’re rebuilding futures.

How You Can Help

Whether it’s £10 for a school bag, £25 for a full uniform, or £100 towards a scholarship, your donation will go directly to the children who need it most.

We also welcome donations of books, learning materials, or technology—anything that can help us transform this forgotten school into a place of real opportunity.
